Artemisia Annua, grown in New Zealand, certified organic, $23 for 200g. The aerial parts of the plant, leaves and stems, were harvested in March 22, dehydrated and cut.

Artemisia annua is a large plant growing 2 meters tall or more. It is very strongly aromatic. It is rich in essential oils, polysaccharides, saponins, coumarins, acids, minerals, flavonoids and polyphenols. Some substances are found in the leaves, others in the stems, again providing an additional argument for using the whole plant rather than extracts. Even without understanding the mechanism of all these constituents, the action of the plant is spectacular.

Artemisia annua has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. It is a medicinal plant that has been used for 2000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine mainly to prevent and treat intermittent fevers (malaria) and other parasitic diseases. It is now also used extensively in Africa. In addition to these traditional uses, research has highlighted anti-cancer properties for certain types of cancers and has also highlighted antiviral properties.

Due to the use of antimalarial drugs to treat the coronavirus, a question arises: would artemisia annua with all its compounds be a cure for SARS-CoV-2? Trials and research are very promising.

Directions: Put 10 g/litre in boiling water, remove from heat, cover and stand for 15 minutes. Strain and drink the same day. Do not re-boil.
